Congress Park Neighborhood Climate Action Forum Results

October 6-7, 2017

The Congress Park Green Team (CPGT) has been working in the Congress Park neighborhood for about two years. The leaders meet regularly and have organized numerous community events to promote sustainable living practices. They have collaborated with the Denver Sustainable Neighborhoods program (Taylor MMM coordinator).  The CPGT leadership invited another volunteer organization – Accelerate Neighborhood Climate Action (ANCA) to assist with the design, preparation and facilitation of this Forum. This Forum follows similar events organized in Capital Heights United Neighborhoods (CHUN), South Park Neighborhood, and Cheesman Park high rise. This Forum is one of 6-8 events in the pilot phase of ANCA’s plan to promote Neighborhood Climate Action Forums throughout metro Denver in the next two years.

About the Forum: The CPGT chose to conduct this Forum in two parts – Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, to attract neighborhood residents. A total of 29 residents participated – some part one, some part two and most attended both sessions.

The enthusiasm of the participants was contagious, and the dialogue and ideas generated were practical and inspiring. A cake celebrating the work of the CPGT to date was enjoyed by all! All follow-up actions and events will be coordinated by the CP Green Team.
